The Wild Forge
Under the Aries Moon: On Wildness, Discipline, and the Alchemy of Renewal
The days are drawing us closer to the Aries Super Moon, and already the night feels charged with becoming. Every now and then, the cosmos sets a match to the story we’ve been living and it seems we are ripe for some results beyond this eclipse corridor.
Under this Moon, a spark of this story (your story) might catch and glow into a clarifying flame, alive and flickering into a dance of renewal. Like a flare in the dark, it might show you what still burns within.
The fullness of this lunation, as mentioned rising after eclipse season, carries an alchemical charge. The power of manifestation in the “I” quotient calls each of us toward our own path, the next frontier of becoming. New roads are forming beneath our feet, new callings flicker under the skin, even as the world around us grows more tangled and dim. We stand in a wild thicket at dusk, torn between vantage and instinct. Do we rise above the fray to glimpse the map from afar, or tunnel underground, following the pulse that knows the way by heart?
It depends on how you orient to meaning itself. Some of us need to climb higher for perspective, to see the larger weave and plot the course from an eagle’s view. Others are called to burrow deep, into the quiet and the dark, to find the glint of truth that only reveals itself underground. Both movements are sacred. Both are ways of listening. Whether you ascend or descend, what matters is the pause and the willingness to step aside from the noise long enough to feel what is truly yours. Because your real direction, your next flame, can only be found inside of you.
The ruler of this Moon, Mars, is in its own watery sign of Scorpio. Here, fire descends into water and becomes something slower, more potent, and impossibly alive. The flames turn to magma in a Pelean landscape becoming an internal chthonic forge where desire and transformation are smelted together in the dark. This is the alchemy of heat meeting depth, of will meeting feeling. The invitation is not only to act, but to sense the subterranean currents that move beneath your impulses and to recognize that the real work of courage is often invisible.
The real messages of the lunation come through Mercury, ruler of the recent Virgo solar eclipse, who will have just entered the same territory at 0° Scorpio. Bringing an important message that it’s time to innovate, to begin again, to work differently with the materials at hand. Mercury now forms some of the strongest patterns in the sky at this super moon, making a Finger of God with Neptune and Uranus while squaring Pluto. This rare accord among the transpersonal forces suggests a karmic adjustment unfolding, a recalibration of the mind toward a higher octave. What once felt tangled or impossible begins to find new pathways, guided by unseen intelligence.
We are, after all, standing at the threshold of collective re-patterning. The old hierarchies of thought are dissolving, and in their place, new networks of shared intelligence are forming. You can see it in the rise of language models trained on our collective voice, in the merging of psyche and circuitry, in the movements toward regenerative living and distributed power. Even the language we use for healing, identity, and belonging is being rewoven. Notice where there are opportunities that are less about separation and more about participation. These are the fingerprints of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto: the slow architects of change, re-shaping our systems, our stories, and our nervous systems alike, urging a new coherence between matter, mind, and myth.
As mythologist Martin Shaw recently wrote, “These are vicious times that need star-blanketing. It’s not unnatural to seek depth.” I’ve been studying his work this season, and that line keeps echoing in me. It reminds me that to seek depth is not an escape from the world, but a way of staying human within it. I’ve been noticing how a wildness is moving through the air at the moment which is unruly, electric, and alive. Yet the deeper I listen, the more I sense that the wild world has its own kind of order. There is discipline inside the chaos, timing and pattern inside what seems untamed. Life evolves through a marriage of structure and spontaneity, of containment and release. To touch the wild is to touch that rhythm, the intelligence that knows when to bloom and when to rest.
I once heard it said that when we rise too quickly from the deep, we get the bends. The same is true in the psyche. After a shock, a loss, or a season of change, there’s a necessary re-pressurizing before we can breathe easily again. That process is grief and the slow work of re-entering life after being stretched by something larger than ourselves. It’s not a failure to feel heavy; it’s the body and soul learning how to hold a new dimension of experience.
In mythic language, two archetypes shape this crossing: Senex and Puer. The Puer eternis is the eternal youth who is wild, impulsive, visionary, ever reaching toward the sky. The Senex is the elder who is steady, disciplined, and aware of time’s constraints and the cost of wisdom. One without the other becomes distorted: the Puer burns out, the Senex calcifies. But together, they form the rhythm of real growth. Spirit and Soul. Spirit ascends as it dreams, dares, and seeks transcendence. Soul descends as it roots, suffers, and makes meaning through the weight of incarnation. Between them, something human and holy is forged.
The invitation of this Aries Moon may be to hold both: to let the wildness move through you without losing the ground beneath your feet. To allow inspiration to meet discipline, courage to meet containment, fire to meet form.
So under this Aries Moon, ask yourself where the fire wants to move next and what shape it needs in order to last. Where are you being asked to honour the edge, to enter into right relationship with form, to let boundaries become the vessel for your brilliance? Where does wild creativity need discipline to become art? And where, in the quiet, does the noise find its path to your ear?
This lunation is not only about courage, but containment. The forge, after all, requires a vessel. Without walls, heat dissipates. With just enough pressure, new worlds are born.
